Pure Spirit Arabians came about from our love of Arabian horses, and their
ability to bond with humans and each other. Our name was derived from the
breeding of Russian and Polish stock from two countries well known for their
spirit. We felt this was appropriate for such fabulous horses and the name
seemed to fit. After many years of riding for pleasure, we realised that
Arabians would always be a part of our lives. Following major surgery, Steve
was no longer able to ride, so we decided to breed Arabians allowing him to
continue with his involvement, while Sabine continues to ride.
Harry was our endurance gelding, and he also had surgery on an injury, so
with nothing to ride we began a quest to buy a sound horse with a long term
view to using it for endurance. We realised at this time that a mare would
be a better option as all we could do with Harry was turn him away and wait,
whereas with a mare, it would have been possible to breed. So, our quest for
a mare began and we searched high and low.
We have found four exceptional mares, all related and all with excellent
blood-lines.
Evidence, if required, is the success of BS Emira, who won the Al Waha
Arabian Stud Pure Bred Ridden Mares on her first attempt at Horse of the Year
Show in 2011.
We would not have achieved the success we did with BS Emira without the
brilliant Darren Crowe riding her to success at HOYS. The preparation of
Emira was helped by Amanda Miller and her staff, Mary Hinman, Arron, and all
the friends of Darrens who worked so hard at the shows to get her there.
We have two fantastic friends who look after our mares, Arron Miles who
schools them assisted by Lou Rochford.
